Good Morning. The U.S. has 50,000 troops near Iran, yet markets are barely flinching. We break down why Wall Street isn't panicking.

TOP STORY TODAY

50,000 Troops in Mideast

The U.S. now has over 50,000 troops deployed across the Middle East, roughly 10,000 above the regional baseline of 40,000. Recent additions include 2,500 Marines and 2,500 sailors, plus 2,000 Army paratroopers ordered to the region last week (NYT).

The deployments come amid ongoing U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran. The Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint carrying roughly 20% of global oil, has been largely closed due to Iranian retaliatory strikes (Trump vows to “unleash hell”).

Military analysts note that 50,000 troops is considered insufficient for large-scale ground operations in Iran, a nation of 93 million people spanning nearly a third of the continental U.S.

Coffee Costs Rise

Retail coffee prices continue climbing due to a combination of crop failures, tariffs, rising labor and rent costs, and speculative trading. One Kansas roaster's bestselling espresso blend has risen from $15 to $18 per bag since last year, reflecting a 34% increase in total roasting costs.

A 40% tariff on Brazilian coffee, later reversed, contributed to price spikes alongside droughts in Brazil and Vietnam. Hedge funds now control significant volumes of coffee futures contracts, adding volatility independent of actual supply conditions.

The Strait of Hormuz closure has renewed upward pressure by raising fuel and freight costs globally, triggering fresh rounds of commodity contract purchases and pushing prices higher again.

AI 🎵 Floods Charts

A South Carolina content creator named Dallas Ray Little is generating songs and music videos under fictional artist names, including "Eddie Dalton," using AI. Three of these fabricated tracks currently occupy spots in the iTunes top five, with a fourth just released.

Little operates what observers describe as a content farm producing dozens of fake songs and videos across multiple invented artists on YouTube. The tracks have minimal streaming numbers but are being purchased by consumers who believe the artists are real.

Neither iTunes nor YouTube has taken action to remove the content. The situation raises questions about platform responsibility in verifying whether chart-eligible music is made by actual human artists. Listen to “Stay a Little Longer” here.

TODAY’S LIFE ADVICE

The Algorithm Behind Every Musk Breakthrough

When supply chains block your goals, Musk doesn't wait. He builds the solution himself. His five-step Algorithm:

  1. Question every requirement

  2. Delete unnecessary steps

  3. Simplify and optimize

  4. Accelerate cycle time

  5. Automate last

The lesson: identify your single point of failure before it stops you. Most people outsource their most critical dependencies and call it efficiency. Musk calls it vulnerability.

Urgency compounds. Weekly reviews on your biggest obstacle beat quarterly planning every time. Speed is the advantage most people voluntarily give away.

Start with first principles. Strip the problem to its atomic level, then rebuild only what actually needs to exist.

How Kids Change Your Mind

Warren Beatty told Gary Shandling: "One of the nice things God does is He doesn't let people who don't have kids know what they're missing." Then you have them, and a whole quadrant of your brain opens up that you never knew existed.
