TOP STORY TODAY

Anthropic’s Big Filing

Anthropic, the maker of the Claude chatbot, publicly filed for its IPO Monday, showing $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of 2026. It plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, possibly by mid-November.

The filing also shows an $80.7 billion net loss over those six months, as server and chip costs tripled. Anthropic has promised about $390 billion for computing to Amazon, SpaceX, Google and Microsoft through 2036.

Reports say the offering could raise up to $100 billion at a value above $2 trillion, topping SpaceX’s June debut. Revenue has climbed every quarter (see the chart), and the filing warns advanced AI could pose catastrophic risks.

The Register Gap

The FTC and 20 states sued Dollar General Monday, alleging the chain routinely charges more at the register than its shelf tags and ads show. The suit says the company knew about the problem for years and never fixed it.

Dollar General runs more than 21,000 stores and sells about 2,000 items for $1 or less. Households earning $35,000 or less make up 60% of its sales (see the states suing).

The FTC’s case cites tens of thousands of shopper complaints and seeks refunds and penalties. The claims are unproven. A price mismatch at any store can be reported to the FTC, and more shoppers now suspect AI sets prices.

One Win Away

The Milwaukee Brewers routed the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 Monday night to take a 3-0 World Series lead. One more win, possibly tonight, would give the franchise its first championship.

The fifth inning set a World Series record: eight runs, all with two outs, on seven straight two-out hits and no home runs (watch the highlights). Jackson Chourio had four hits; William Contreras set a team postseason record with 18.

History is on Milwaukee’s side. All 25 teams to lead a World Series 3-0 went on to win it, and 21 finished the sweep. Game 4 is tonight at 8 p.m. ET (how they came back in Game 2).

The Thrive Market Founder Who Came for GLP-1 Prices

Gunnar Lovelace co-founded Thrive Market, the company that made organic groceries affordable for more than 1.6 million Americans. After years of stress eating, he says compounded Tirzepatide changed his relationship with food. Then he realized most people are priced out of it, and he got angry.

So he built Collective. Members pool their buying power to negotiate wholesale prices from trusted US pharmacies: compounded GLP-1s for $59/month, at any dose.

Membership adds what most programs skip: unlimited messaging with a real doctor, regular check-ins and ongoing nutrition support. And for every paid membership, Collective gives one to someone who can’t afford it.

How a Heart Surgeon Checks His Own Heart

A cardiovascular surgeon had a heart attack while looking healthy, then blamed his chest pain on reflux for more than a day. His standard cholesterol panel looked only mildly high. On The Dr. Hyman Show, he shared what he tracks now:

1. ApoB. It counts the particles that clog arteries. His was 180, far too high. 2. Fasting insulin. His was 40. He says it should be under 5. 3. A1C. He brought his from 5.7 to 5.5 with 10-minute walks after meals. 4. Lp(a). Test it at least once in your life. 5. Waist-to-height ratio. Divide your waist by your height. Aim for under 0.5.

His rule for all of it: you can’t fix what you don’t measure.
