Gaza War Paused

Israel and Hamas agreed Wednesday to the first phase of President Trump's Gaza ceasefire plan. The deal includes hostage releases and a ceasefire framework. Trump said all hostages would be released "very soon."

The agreement came from indirect Egypt talks, one day after the two-year anniversary of Hamas's attack that triggered Israel's assault. Trump's 20-point framework aims to bring Gaza peace. Hamas separately confirmed the agreement.

The deal could end the two-year war that reshaped the Middle East. Details on remaining phases and implementation timeline weren't immediately disclosed. See ongoing updates here.

Shutdown Hits Businesses

Businesses are feeling the week-old government shutdown (WSJ). A California medical-device firm postponed a spinoff, a Florida marketing company laid off five workers, and Minnesota contractors face contract delays.

Small-business lending has halted, agencies can't award contracts, and regulatory reviews are stalled. Vistra Communications laid off five of 80 employees after receiving a stop-work order. The firm receives 75% of revenue from federal government.

Oxford Economics estimates the shutdown could cut annual growth 0.2 percentage points per week. Contractors may face layoffs if delays continue. Retailers expect lower consumer spending during the critical fourth quarter. Message from The White House.

Ronaldo Hits $1B

Cristiano Ronaldo became football's first billionaire player. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index values the 40-year-old Portugal and Al-Nassr striker's net worth at $1.4 billion, based on career earnings, investments, and endorsements.

Ronaldo earned over $550 million in salary between 2002 and 2023, Bloomberg said. His Al-Nassr contract reportedly pays $177 million annually. He recently signed a two-year extension worth more than $400 million through age 42.

The valuation includes his decade-long Nike deal worth $18 million yearly. Lionel Messi earned over $600 million pre-tax during his career but currently makes about 10% of Ronaldo's income. See billionaire athletes here.

Perfect Your Pull-Ups

Most people fail pullups because they're grabbing the bar wrong—and it's sabotaging their core strength before they even pull.

The Grip-Core Connection:

  • Closed grip with thumbs activates core 30%+ more than open grip

  • Shoulder-width spacing enables full range vs. wide grip failure

  • Elbows behind body (not sideways) activates back muscles properly

"There's a direct correlation between firm grip strength and core activation," says Adam Godzri, gymnastics coach. The fix: wrap thumbs around bar, turn hands slightly upward (false grip position), drive elbows backward not sideways.

Not ready for this yet? Build with scapula depressions (hanging shrugs), inverted rows with proper elbow drive, and hollow body holds—the progression stack that makes pullups inevitable (progressions here).

The result: Scapula depression and adduction work together with engaged core for chest-to-bar pulls without momentum—transforming the single hardest bodyweight move into systematic progression.
