Mamdani Meets Trump

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani meets President Trump Friday at 3 p.m. at the White House. Mamdani says he'll focus on affordability, stating one in four New Yorkers live in poverty and one in five struggle affording $2.90 bus fare.

The meeting follows public tension between the leaders. Trump previously called the democratic socialist Mamdani a "communist" and threatened withholding federal funding. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt repeated the communist label Wednesday. Mamdani initiated the meeting through his team.

Mamdani says he'll work with Trump on agendas benefiting New Yorkers but oppose harmful policies. He noted one in ten Trump voters also voted for him, both focused on cost-of-living issues. The meeting is customary for New York City mayors.

Winter is Coming

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center released its winter forecast Thursday for December through February. Northern states from Washington to Michigan face colder-than-normal temperatures, while the South and mid-Atlantic expect warmer weather driven by La Niña patterns.

Northern regions expect wetter conditions with increased snow. Southern states face dry weather with worsening drought in the Southwest, deep South, and Northeast. Middle states have uncertain forecasts. La Niña officially began last month.

Cold weather arrives early. NOAA warns cooler-than-normal temperatures hit Midwestern and Plains states by November 25, extending to Texas and New England over Thanksgiving weekend. Forecasters predict much-below-average temperatures and potential heavy snow. Coldest, snowiest winter in years?

Evil Teddy Bears

Consumer advocacy group Fairplay warned parents yesterday to avoid AI-enabled toys this holiday season. A Public Interest Research Group report found some AI toys discussed inappropriate topics with children, including sexual content and instructions for finding dangerous household items.

OpenAI suspended its partnership with Singapore-based FoloToy after researchers prompted harmful responses from the company's teddy bear. Fairplay previously campaigned against wifi-connected Barbie dolls over privacy concerns. Mattel announced an OpenAI partnership in June.

The warnings highlight growing safety concerns around AI toys. Groups accuse devices of exploiting children's trust and disrupting relationships. Researchers separately warn teenagers increasingly use AI chatbots for mental health support without professional oversight. How to protect kids from negative AI.

Ed Sheeran’s Death Wish

Ed Sheeran planned his death at a young age, where most people do not. His will includes specific burial wishes, a posthumous album "Eject" (where his wife Cherry handpicks never-before-released the tracks), and even prank gifts mailed to friends post-mortem. "I've had friends pass away without wills and it's f*cking chaotic," he warns. Estate planning isn't morbid—it's protecting those you love from chaos when you're gone.
