Tesla Profits Fall

Tesla's net income fell 37% to $1.4 billion in Q3 despite record $28 billion revenue, the company reported Wednesday. CEO Elon Musk emphasized needing a pay package worth $1 trillion to maintain control as Tesla pivots to AI.

Fannie CEO Exits

Fannie Mae CEO Priscilla Almodovar stepped down Wednesday, with COO Peter Akwaboah named acting CEO (WSJ). John Roscoe and Brandon Hamara were promoted to co-presidents. Changes are effective immediately. Almodovar led since December 2022.

The shake-up comes as the Trump administration considers selling shares of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac through an IPO. Both companies have been under government conservatorship since the 2008 financial crisis. In March, regulators removed eight board members and added four new ones.

It remains unclear whether the companies would exit government control if a public offering proceeds. Trump wants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to "get Big Homebuilders going," as they are sitting on 2 million empty lots.

Antidepressant Effects Vary

New research analyzing 151 trials found significant physical side-effect differences among 30 antidepressants. Weight changes ranged from 2.5kg loss to 2kg gain. Heart rates varied by over 20 beats per minute between drugs.

The eight-week studies of 58,534 people measured blood pressure, weight, and heart rate. Fluvoxamine lowered heart rate by eight beats per minute while nortriptyline raised it by 14. Several drugs increased cholesterol and blood sugar (full study here).

Researcher Toby Pillinger said doctors should match antidepressants to patients based on physical health. The team developed a free tool (see more) to help select medications by ranking options based on desired side-effect profiles.
