Tylenol During Pregnancy

The Trump administration warned Monday that acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy could cause autism, urging pregnant women to avoid it unless absolutely necessary. President Trump said the FDA will issue physician notices and update product labels regarding pregnancy risks.

Research remains inconclusive on acetaminophen-autism links. A 2019 study found connections, while a 2024 study of 2.5 million Swedish children showed no increased risk. Medical societies continue recommending acetaminophen as the safest pain reliever during pregnancy.

Doctors emphasize untreated fever and pain pose greater risks than the medication itself, including preterm labor and birth defects. Kenvue, Tylenol's manufacturer, maintains independent science shows no clear autism connection.

Spirit Cuts Jobs

Spirit Airlines announced Monday it will furlough 1,800 flight attendants starting December 1, representing one-third of its workforce. The budget carrier said cuts align staffing with fleet size as part of ongoing restructuring following November 2024 bankruptcy filing.

The furloughs follow Spirit's 25% capacity reduction announcement. The airline currently employs 5,200 flight attendants serving 75 destinations across North America, Latin America, and Caribbean. Union rules require voluntary furloughs before involuntary ones based on seniority.

Spirit filed bankruptcy amid profitability struggles and "substantial doubt" about continuing operations. The company must offer voluntary departures first under contract terms before proceeding with involuntary cuts. Bankruptcy details here.

Jimmy Kimmel Returns

Disney announced Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show will return to ABC today after being suspended since September 17. The show was pulled following FCC Chairman Brendan Carr's criticism of Kimmel's remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk's killing.

Broadcasters Nexstar and Sinclair, owning 60+ ABC affiliates, dropped the show after the controversy. Disney executives including CEO Bob Iger negotiated with Kimmel over several days to resolve the impasse following remarks deemed "ill-timed and insensitive."

Some affiliates may continue replacing Kimmel with news programming. Over 400 celebrities signed an ACLU letter condemning the suspension as censorship. The controversy raised concerns about government pressure on broadcast networks.

How High Earners Bypass $165K Income Limits

Make too much for a Roth IRA? There's a legal workaround. If you earn over $165,000 (single) or $246,000 (married), you're locked out of direct Roth contributions.

The backdoor strategy:

  • Contribute $7,000 to traditional IRA with after-tax dollars

  • Immediately convert to Roth IRA

  • No income limits apply to conversions

This gives you tax-free growth and tax-free withdrawals in retirement. The IRS allows this loophole despite it making no logical sense. High earners can contribute $8,000 if over 50.

Most wealthy people miss this simple tax hack that's been legal for decades.

How Your Gut Bacteria Control Your Stress Response

Ever wonder why some people stay calm under pressure while others crumble? The answer might live in your stomach.

UCLA research reveals people with high stress resilience have distinct gut bacteria signatures. These beneficial microbes manufacture anti-inflammatory compounds that communicate directly with your brain via the gut-brain axis.

  • Wrong bacteria = more anxiety and inflammation

  • Right bacteria = natural stress protection

Your microbiome determines your stress response more than your mindset. The gut-brain connection is real.
