Good Morning. South Florida earned the nickname "Wall Street South" as major financial firms fled high-tax cities for Miami's sun and business-friendly policies.

TOP STORY TODAY
Wall Street South
Billionaires Stephen Ross and Ken Griffin launched "Ambition Accelerated," a campaign promoting South Florida's Gold Coast as a top U.S. business destination. Each contributed $5 million to the Florida Council of 100 initiative targeting companies in finance, technology, and other sectors considering relocation from traditional commercial hubs (NYT).
Ross, who moved from New York during the pandemic, and Griffin, who relocated from Chicago in 2022, cite regulatory predictability, talent access, cost structure, and quality of life as key advantages. South Florida has already seen significant business growth, earning the nickname "Wall Street South" for its financial sector expansion.
The pair addressed regional weaknesses by supporting infrastructure development. Ross donated millions toward a Vanderbilt University campus, private K-12 schools, and a Cleveland Clinic hospital. The campaign targets concerns driving businesses from California and New York over tax policies and regulatory complexity.
America's Sex Recession
One in three American men and one in five women haven't had sex in the past year, according to the General Social Survey. Sex neuroscientist Dr. Debra Soh's new book "Sextinction" examines how technology and environmental factors contribute to declining intimacy rates alongside record loneliness and falling testosterone levels.
Soh identifies social media influencers creating unrealistic standards, dating apps overwhelming users with excessive choice, and readily available pornography conditioning young people's sexual responses. AI romantic companions are becoming increasingly realistic, with users able to customize appearance, voice, and responses exactly as desired.
Environmental toxins also play a role. Studies show chemicals from pharmaceuticals, plastics containing BPA, and soy compounds affecting hormones and fertility across species. Soh predicts the trend will worsen as technology advances, impacting both fertility rates and human connection (see “Dating Misconceptions” below).
Smart Underwear?
University of Maryland researchers developed a wearable sensor that clips to underwear and monitors gut bacteria by measuring hydrogen gas in flatulence. The device runs for a week on one battery charge and detected dietary changes with 94.7% accuracy in a 38-person study.
Participants averaged 32 daily gas episodes, significantly higher than the 10-20 typically self-reported. Individual variation ranged dramatically from 4 to 59 episodes daily. About one-third reported digestive discomfort from plain sugar gumdrops that produced minimal bacterial fermentation.
The team launched the Human Flatus Atlas project to establish normal flatulence baselines across hundreds of participants. The device could eventually help people with food intolerances identify trigger foods. Two patent applications have been filed.

TODAY’S LIFE ADVICE
Jake Gyllenhaal’s Road House Workout
Jake Gyllenhaal dropped from 205 to 184 pounds at 5% body fat for Road House, training over a year with Jason Walsh to look like a former UFC fighter.
The program progressed through phases: conditioning baseline, hypertrophy for muscle, sport-specific movement patterns, then maintenance. Walsh emphasized variation in exercises, tempos, and loads.
Key Training Elements:
Heavy sled pushes/pulls
Safety bar squats
Isometric holds
VersaClimber sprints
Cross-lateral MMA drills
Core Circuit (2-3x weekly):
KB overhead carries (60m)
Front-rack carries (60m)
Zercher squats (8-15 reps)
Split-stance ball chops (8-15 reps/side)
Nutrition was also crucial. Gyllenhaal consumed more calories but cut sweets, switching to plant-based protein after whey digestion issues.
Dating Misconceptions
The biggest shift in dating today: we've moved from relationship-building networks to attraction markets. The research shows that when people meet repeatedly over time—at work, church, hobbies, or social groups—initial "hotness" consensus fades dramatically (from 70% agreement to near 50%).
This means the traditional advice to "improve yourself" matters far less than we think. Your best strategy? Stop optimizing your attributes for strangers and start building contexts where people can discover your unique appeal over time. The "office plus two" effect is real—and it works both ways.
