West Virginia Wells
West Virginia unveiled the Mountain State Plugging Fund Thursday to retire roughly 20,000 old oil and gas wells over coming decades. The privately financed fund aims to prevent groundwater contamination and methane leaks at no taxpayer cost.
Diversified Energy will contribute $70 million over 20 years, projected to grow to $650 million through returns. The company agreed to retire at least 1,500 wells initially, then 250 annually. Costs range from $25,000 to over $50,000 per well. See well decommissioning practices training.
Officials believe this is the first business-funded cleanup fund of its kind. Millions of abandoned wells nationwide leak methane and pollutants, with thousands orphaned by defunct companies.

John Bolton Charged
Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton was charged Thursday with storing top secret records at home and sharing classified diary entries with relatives. The indictment alleges secrets were exposed when Iranian hackers accessed his compromised email account.
Bolton shared over 1,000 pages of classified material with two relatives between 2018 and August 2025, including top-secret intelligence about foreign adversaries and covert operations, court documents state. Material included details about missile launches and intelligence sources.
Bolton denied charges and called the case Trump's effort to "intimidate opponents." His attorney said diaries covered 45 years in government and facts were "resolved years ago." Five takeaways from this story.

Florida Nuclear Crocodiles
Florida Power & Light's Turkey Point Nuclear Plant recorded 606 crocodile hatchlings this year, surpassing 600 for the first time in 47 years. The facility's 168 miles of cooling canals provide ideal habitat.
American crocodiles were endangered in 1975 with just 200 remaining due to coastal development. Turkey Point's isolated canals have helped biologists tag over 10,000 hatchlings since 1978. The species was downlisted to threatened in 2007.
At least 2,000 crocodiles now inhabit Florida. Researchers found 178 nests statewide in 2025, including 129 in Everglades National Park (up from one in 1986). Crocodiles are reclaiming historic range. See photos.

Why Self-Reliance Kills Your Business
Every time you ask "How do I do this?" you limit your potential. Instead, you should be asking, “Who can do this for me?”
Benjamin Hardy & Dan Sullivan's framework: Replace every "How" question with "Who" to unlock 10x bigger goals
The collaboration multiplier: Top 1% of entrepreneurs have 15-20 "Whos" handling their weaknesses
Freedom metric: Studies confirm asking "Who" first creates $1M+ businesses; asking "How" keeps you stuck at $250K ceiling
Dan Sullivan: "The Who creates the How—when you find the right person, they figure out how to accomplish what you want."
The methodology shift: Your job isn't solving problems. It's finding people whose genius solves them for you. The moment you stop being the answer, your business starts growing.
Will AI Help Cure Cancer?
Google DeepMind released C2S-Scale 27B, a 27-billion parameter AI model that predicted a novel cancer therapy combination. The model identified silmitasertib drug plus low-dose interferon could amplify antigen presentation. Lab tests on human cells confirmed the AI's prediction, showing 50% increased antigen presentation. The combination could make "cold" tumors visible to immune systems.
