Dodgers Win World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in 11 innings Saturday in Game 7, becoming the first back-to-back World Series champions in 25 years. The dramatic victory in Toronto cemented their dynasty status.

Miguel Rojas tied the game with a ninth-inning home run. Will Smith delivered the go-ahead run with a two-out homer in the 11th inning. World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto closed the game despite throwing 96 pitches the night before.

The Dodgers overcame a three-run deficit and survived a bases-loaded threat in the ninth. A championship parade was held Friday in Los Angeles. See World Series highlights here.

New SNAP Rules

New SNAP restrictions took effect Saturday, while benefits will not be issued in November due to the government shutdown. The changes stem from President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act and are expected to cut $186 billion over ten years.

Adults without dependents must now work 80 hours monthly or pursue education to qualify for benefits beyond three months. Work requirements now apply to adults under 65. Parents with children under 14 remain exempt (previously 18). Immigrant eligibility rules were also tightened.

A federal judge blocked benefit cuts Friday, rejecting arguments against using contingency funding during the shutdown. Approximately $5.25 billion remains in contingency funds, though full November coverage requires $9.2 billion

MTV Cancels 'Ridiculousness'

MTV has canceled "Ridiculousness" after 14 years and 46 seasons. The comedy clip series, hosted by Rob Dyrdek, will air previously shot episodes into 2026, but no new episodes will be produced.

With over 1,700 episodes, "Ridiculousness" became one of MTV's longest-running series. The show dominated the network's programming, sometimes occupying 113 hours weekly. Bloomberg reported host Dyrdek earned at least $32.5 million annually, including escalating per-episode fees.

The cancellation comes as MTV seeks a "more curated slate" with "different creative voices," according to sources. The shift follows Paramount's $8 billion merger with Skydance, signaling potential changes in network programming. Most watched Halloween moments (YouTube).

Time Change Increases Heart Attack Risk

Every spring, 1.6 billion people participate in an unintended experiment. The cost? Lives.

When clocks "spring forward," heart attacks surge 24% within days (why do we have Daylight Savings Time?). Traffic deaths, strokes, and even suicides spike alongside them. The fall reversal tells the opposite story:

  • Gaining one hour back = 21% fewer heart attacks

  • Markets stabilize

  • Even roads get safer

Sleep scientist Matt Walker warns this reveals how fragile our bodies are to even minor sleep loss. One hour matters—treat sleep like the life-or-death investment it is.

Fight Inflammation With Sprouts

Broccoli sprouts contain 50 times more anti-inflammatory compounds than mature broccoli. When 40 adults ate just 30 grams daily, their inflammation markers dropped 59% in 10 weeks. The secret: sulforaphane activates your body's detox system. Nutritionist's hack: grow them at home in 5 days—rinse twice daily, add to salads or toast for maximum potency (recommended starter kit here*).
