TOP STORY TODAY
Epstein Files Released
The Justice Department releases unclassified Jeffrey Epstein records later today, as required by federal law. The release includes documents, communications, and investigative materials in searchable format. Redactions are permitted for victim identities and ongoing investigations (More).
Epstein died in federal prison in 2019. Congress passed legislation mandating disclosure after years of public interest. The law increases transparency around Epstein's criminal activities and connections.
Additional releases are expected, including grand jury transcripts approved by federal judges. Media outlets and congressional committees continue seeking documents from Epstein's estate not previously obtained by investigators. Some photos were released yesterday (warning: sensitive material). Live updates here.
Brown Shooter Found Dead
Claudio Neves Valente, 48, was found dead Thursday in a New Hampshire storage facility from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities identified him as the suspect in Saturday's Brown University shooting that killed two students and wounded nine others.
Investigators also suspect Valente killed MIT physics professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro Monday at his Brookline home. Valente, a Portuguese national, was a Brown graduate student from 2000-2001. He and Loureiro attended the same academic program in Portugal (BBC).
An anonymous tipster on Reddit provided the crucial lead after recognizing Valente. The tip led investigators to a vehicle, enabling police to track the suspect through Providence's surveillance camera network. Motive remains unknown.
Christmas Holiday Extension
President Trump issued an executive order Thursday declaring Christmas Eve and December 26 as federal holidays this year. Federal agencies will close and employees are excused from duty Wednesday through Friday, though agency heads may require certain staff to work.
Trump designated Christmas Eve as a holiday during his first term in 2019 and 2020. President Obama similarly declared December 26 a holiday in 2014. This year marks 13 total federal holidays for federal employees.
Permanent federal holidays require Congressional legislation. The most recent addition was Juneteenth in 2021 under President Biden. Previous federal holidays here.

Reduced Stress Can Reverse Gray Hair
Hair graying is reversible through stress reduction. Dr. Martin Picard's groundbreaking research shows that aging isn't linear - stress can accelerate gray hair formation, but reducing stress can actually reverse it. Since only 7% of longevity is genetic while 90% is lifestyle-driven, this discovery reveals how our daily behaviors directly impact biological aging at the cellular level.
