TOP STORY TODAY
Robert Duvall Dies
Academy Award-winning actor Robert Duvall died at age 95, his wife Luciana Duvall announced via Facebook. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. Duvall won an Oscar for "Tender Mercies" and earned nominations for "The Godfather," "Apocalypse Now," and "The Great Santini."
Duvall's career spanned decades, establishing him alongside contemporaries Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, and Gene Hackman. He also directed films including "The Apostle." Director Francis Ford Coppola noted the difficulty distinguishing between leading men and great character actors when discussing Duvall's work.
His wife described him as passionate about his craft and dedicated to portraying authentic human characters. Duvall's naturalistic acting style influenced a generation of performers and earned widespread respect from peers and critics throughout his career (IMdB).
AI Proves Physics
OpenAI's GPT-5.2 proposed a formula proving certain gluon particle interactions can occur, contradicting longstanding physics assumptions. The AI identified conditions where "single-minus gluon tree amplitudes" are nonzero. Human physicists from Harvard, Cambridge, Vanderbilt, and Institute for Advanced Study authored the preprint submitted for peer review.
Researchers calculated gluon interactions manually up to specific complexity levels. GPT-5.2 Pro simplified their complicated expressions and identified patterns across cases. An internal OpenAI model then spent 12 hours deriving the same formula and producing a formal proof later verified through standard physics methods.
The work focuses on scattering amplitudes—calculations determining particle interaction probabilities. The discovery opens new research directions including similar calculations for gravitons. Physics professors noted the result demonstrates AI-assisted science generating fundamentally new knowledge when paired with human domain experts. Read paper here.
Trader Joe's Totes
Trader Joe's confirmed its viral mini tote bags will return this spring, though no exact date was announced. The 13-inch canvas totes cost $2.99 in stores but have sold online for up to $10,000 internationally. The 2026 edition will feature the same pastel colors as previous years.
The miniature bags sparked buying frenzies in 2024 and 2025, similar to Prime drinks and Stanley mugs. Initial releases sold out quickly, with resellers listing them for hundreds domestically and thousands abroad. The totes come in blue, pink, green, and purple, measuring 13 x 11 x 6 inches.
Trader Joe's (store of discovery) continues expanding across 14 U.S. states with new store openings planned. The chain ranks as America's third most popular grocery store according to YouGov polling. No price has been confirmed for the 2026 release, though previous editions maintained the $2.99 price point.

TODAY’S LIFE ADVICE
The Art of Setting “Dumb” Goals
DUMB goals might sound irresponsible. They're actually permission to dream before you strategize.
Instead of SMART goals, DUMB goals are:
Dream-driven: Start with desire, not timelines
Uplifting: Motivating, not pressuring
Method-friendly: Vision stays, path changes
Behavior-triggered: Built on habits, not outcomes
The author set a "dumb" financial goal with zero plan. She kept writing and stayed open. Opportunities stacked unexpectedly.
Why it works: Belief changes what your brain notices. You start seeing relevant opportunities you'd previously missed.
How to set one: Write what you want even if you don't know how. Choose one behavior that faces you in the right direction—writing consistently, creating before consuming.
Direction matters more than detailed plans.
Red Carpet Red-Tinted Glasses
Tinted glasses are everywhere, from red carpets to city streets. Jacob Elordi, Michael B Jordan, and Glen Powell are leading the charge with colored lenses that add vintage style while revealing your eyes instead of hiding them.
Beyond aesthetics, many tinted frames now filter blue light and reduce screen-induced eye strain. Brown and tan shades work with tailoring or casual wear, day to evening, without that "sunglasses indoors" vibe. Confidence required.
