TOP STORY TODAY

House Rebukes Trump

The House voted 215 to 208 on Wednesday to rebuke President Trump over the war with Iran. Four Republicans, Brian Fitzpatrick, Thomas Massie, Tom Barrett and Warren Davidson, joined every Democrat to pass the measure.

The resolution directs the president to withdraw U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran unless Congress authorizes the conflict, though it is symbolic and carries no binding force. Republican leaders opposed it; three earlier attempts failed this year.

A binding Senate version has advanced but awaits a final vote, and would still need House approval and survive a presidential veto. Separately, the House voted 218 to 204 to force a Thursday vote on Ukraine aid.

Nvidia Pays Your Electric Bill

Nvidia wants to turn your home into a tiny AI data center. Through a project called XFRA, Nvidia and startup Span would install a compact server on your property and cover your electricity and internet bills in return.

The unit is about the size of an air conditioner and runs on a home's unused power, capped at 80 amps so your appliances stay first in line. A 100-home trial is expected later this year. How this device works, here.

It sounds like Airbnb for electricity, but there is a catch. Span could eventually charge up to $150 monthly, and skeptics flag security, noise and data-privacy risks from routing your internet through the company.

Retire to Portugal?

Lisbon is booming in 2026. Portugal's capital expects more than nine million visitors this year, with American arrivals up 90 percent over four years (NYT), drawn by sunshine, world-class food and prices that undercut other European capitals.

The math is the draw. A mid-range Lisbon day runs roughly $110 to $160, versus $195 to $270 in Paris. A glass of wine costs about $4 there, against $13 in London or Paris. Monthly cost of living figures, here.

Retiring there is realistic too. Portugal's D7 visa accepts retirees with about $1,000 in monthly passive income, like Social Security. Budget $32,000 to $43,000 yearly for a comfortable Lisbon life, plus a path to EU citizenship.

Recovery is the longevity metric most trackers hide.

HRV, readiness, and sleep depth are the numbers that actually predict how well you age, yet most wearables either bury them or lock them behind a $30/month subscription. The Hume Band v2 surfaces all of them with no mandatory fee.

Built for preventive health instead of step-counting, it tracks heart rate variability, recovery and readiness scores, deep sleep, stress load, and proprietary metabolic health metrics. It also syncs with Hume's body composition tools, so you see both how your body is performing and how it is changing over time.

If you have optimized everything except your own healthspan, this is the number to start watching.

TODAY’S LIFE ADVICE

Anthony Bourdain's Rule for a Bold Life

Anthony Bourdain built a singular life on one bet: a powerful reaction, love or hate, beats pleasing everyone. He would rather fail gloriously than make something safe and competent.

His operating rules (full video):

  • Skip the rigid plan. Stay open to the unexpected.

  • Risk the bad meal. It is the only path to the magical one.

  • Stay humble. Assume you are the least-prepared person in the room.

  • Chase the strong reaction, not the unanimous nod.

What kept Bourdain going at his lowest? Not willpower or hope, but what he saw in the mirror [6:48].

5 Types of People Who Will Never Build Muscle

This podcast names five archetypes who train hard and still never grow. The uncomfortable part: you are probably one of them.

  • Confusion Carl: swaps exercises every workout. Pick 3-5 lifts and run them for weeks.

  • Easy Stevie: never trains near failure. Push one set within 1-2 reps.

  • Too Much Mike: drowns in volume. Cut it; muscle grows in recovery.

  • Stay Shredded Sally: under-eats. You cannot build on too few calories.

  • Weekend Warrior Wally: unravels Saturday and Sunday. Stay consistent seven days.

Plus one post-workout trick that quadrupled muscle growth in a twin study. Get the full breakdown →

TOGETHER WITH BELAY

Are you running your business or just hoping the numbers work out?

Most small business owners have financials; few have financial clarity…

There's a big difference between books that are technically up to date and books that actually tell you what's going on in your business right now. When accounting is reactive, updated only when there's time and reviewed annually during tax season, you lose visibility exactly when you need it most.

You can't tell which clients or services are truly profitable. You can't spot a cash flow problem before it becomes a crisis. And you can't make confident growth decisions on incomplete data.

BELAY's outsourced accounting team changes that. We become a seamless part of your business, managing your books, tracking key metrics, and delivering timely financial reporting that lets busy leaders focus on what only they can do. The end result: more time spent growing your organization.
